The Ford F-150, a vehicle with deep roots dating back to when trucks were only for people who made a living doing physical labor, is America’s favorite vehicle. That’s right, it’s far more popular than any other truck or car in this country. Ford is now shedding light on which states have a preference for specific trims of the F-150 between the years 1977 through 2022.

For the 2024 model year, the Ford F-150 is available in no less than eight different trim levels. Among those, buyers can add all sorts of different packages that can enhance performance or simply appeal to styling preferences. This new infographic from the automaker tells us a bit about the demographics and customer demands in many states across the country.

For example, Florida prefers the F-150 4×2. In fact, they buy more rear-wheel drive F-150s than any other state. On the flip side, the small state of Vermont actually buys more 4×4 F-150s than any other state in the nation. There’s no word on which state buys the most base-level pickups but Michigan buys the most XLT models. Washington buys the most Platinum models.

Mapping America’s Favorite Ford F-150 Trims And Packages

Some states seem to have a bit of a stereotypical connection to their favorite F-150. For instance, the folks in Texas buy the King Ranch version more than any other state. No state buys the F-150 in Agate Black Metallic Paint more than New York. And Alaska leads the states in the purchase of F-150s with the Max Trailer Tow package.

Two states make the list twice. Vermont, already the king of the 4×4 F-150 also buys more SuperCab F-150s than any other state. Then, good ol’ Mississippi buys the F4X Off-Road package more than any other and they add the King Ranch Chrome Appearance package the most too. That being said, quite a number of states aren’t on the list at all so take a look and see what, if anything, your state is known for in the F-150 world.
