For those who had hoped Rolls-Royce would create a coupe version of the new Phantom, there’s good news. Italian coachbuilder Ares Modena is stepping in to fill the void with a bespoke conversion. The Ares Coupe for Rolls-Royce Phantom will be produced in limited numbers, bringing the elegance of a two-door body style to the sedan flagship.
The upcoming coachbuilt special was teased through a series of renderings showing what to expect. A direct comparison with the standard Phantom reveals that the coupe has a shortened wheelbase, two massive rear-hinged doors, and a redesigned rear section that mimics the timeless styling language of Rolls-Royce.
The greenhouse and the proportions look similar to the previous-gen Phantom Coupe, making us wonder if a “Drophead” version would be possible. Ares Modena says that the model is exclusively available in black or white exterior colors, both in bi-tone configurations with the hood and windshield frame painted in rose gold.

The cabin showcases ‘new materials and handmade finishes,’ ensuring that each example is unique and tailored to the owner’s preferences. Renderings of the interior reveal rose-gold piping and an unconventional quilted pattern on the dashboard inserts, door cards, and central armrest. Due to the shortened wheelbase, rear passengers may not enjoy as much space as in a standard Phantom, but it’s a small price to pay for the added exclusivity.
Ares Modena remains coy on details about the specifications of the bespoke build, which will likely require the sacrifice of a Rolls-Royce Phantom and countless hours of work for the required modifications in the all-aluminum “Architecture of Luxury” chassis and the largely redesigned two-door bodystyle. In terms of power, the coupe will most likely carry over the twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 engine that produces 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque right from the factory.
While the coachbuilder hasn’t announced pricing or availability for the ‘Ares Coupe for Rolls-Royce Phantom,’ it’s likely they are open to receiving orders from prospective clients with deep pockets. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first bespoke coupe conversion by Ares Modena; in March 2023, they revealed the Bentley Coupe Sport based on the discontinued Mulsanne.
Rolls-Royce produced the Phantom Coupe between 2008 and 2016 when it was discontinued without a planned successor. Today, the only two-door model in the Rolls-Royce lineup is the fully electric Spectre, as the Wraith went out of production earlier this year.
