A Lincoln Town Car came to an unfortunate end in Georgia on Friday, after becoming stuck on the train tracks at a level crossing. Luckily, as video of the incident shows, the occupants of the vehicle were able to escape just before a train hit the car.

The accident happened in Monroe County, Georgia, near Macon, at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 8. Fortunately, there was enough time for all of the vehicle’s occupants to escape, and for a pickup that appears to have been trying to help, to drive away. 13WMAZ reports that no injuries resulted from the collision, but that car was, unsurprisingly, a total loss.

Video footage shared to Reddit shows the dramatic moments before the collision. In it, the Town Car appears to be running, and smoke can be seen coming from behind it. However, the rear is squat, and the right side looks like it is off the road.

Train T-Bones Lincoln Town Car Stuck On Tracks, Occupants Flee Just In Time

Although details have not been shared, it looks like the Lincoln’s right rear wheel may have slipped off the side of the road, high-centering it on the railroad crossing. A red pickup trucks looks like it may be lining up to help yank the car off the tracks.

However, the people on the scene don’t get the opportunity to try and pull the car to freedom, because the blaring horns of an oncoming train warn everyone that of its approach. Fortunately, everyone there was wise enough to give up on the car, and flee to safety.

As the freight train strikes the car, it pushes into an embankment, opening the trunk, and sending the contents flying. A dramatic reminder of the force a collision of this nature can generate, we’re just everyone was clear of the accident when those forces were exerted.
