Earlier this year, Radford Motors took a highly modified version of its first model, the Type 62-2, to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, in Colorado. Not only did it take a class win on the day and set a class record, but it also marked the start of a new, limited-edition series of track cars for well-heeled clients.

Dubbed, appropriately enough, the Type 62-2 Track Car Edition, Radford will build just 12 of these impressive beasts. They will benefit from a full carbon composite monocoque, an updated underbody design, improved subframes, a new suspension system, and an integrated rear airfoil.

In addition, its 3.5-liter, supercharged V6 engine has been tuned to make 710 hp (529 kW/720 PS). Thanks to a crash diet, the Pikes Peak car weighed 441 lbs (200 kg) less than the street car, tipping the scales at just 1,898 lbs (861 kg). 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) comes in an impressive 2.2 seconds, and can keep accelerating to a top speed of 160 mph (257 km/h).

Radford Turns Its Pikes Peak Winner Into A Million-Dollar, Limited-Edition Track Car

“Under the skin of each Radford Motors Type 62-2 Track Edition is a highly tuned supercar that leans into our F1 partners and engineers as well as Colin Chapman’s ethos of simplifying everything and adding lightness,” said Ant Anstead, co-founder. “Our cars are some of the lightest supercars on the planet and offer an exhilarating driving experience that we believe has been lost in recent years.”

Radford says it will work with customers to craft a car that is specific to their needs. It will also work with clients to field the car in events such as Pikes Peak or The Hill Climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

With just 12 to deliver, Radford says that each 62-2 Track Car Edition model will be handed over to its new owner by F1 champion, and Radford co-founder, Jenson Button. They all also come with a personalized Sparco racing suit.

The result of all this work means the car won’t come cheap. Each Radford Type 62-2 Track Car Edition comes with a price tag of $1 million.
