The second generation of the Hyundai Kona is offered with gas, hybrid, and fully electric powertrain options, but the sporty-looking N Line trim is currently exclusively offered for the ICE-powered models. However, there’s now evidence that the EV variant might be joining the lineup soon. Our spy photographers captured images of a camouflaged Kona prototype, which combines N Line badges with a silent electric drive.

Hyundai offers N Line trim versions (not to be confused with the pure N performance models) for nearly its entire ICE-powered lineup. Still, after the debut of the full-blown performance-focused Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, more EVs could wear the N emblem. Judging from the latest spy shots, The Kona Electric could be among the first to gain a mildly sporty N Line trim.

2025 Hyundai Kona Electric Spied In Sportier N Line Form

Notably, the prototype doesn’t appear to share the in-your-face bodykit of the 2024 Kona N Line. Instead, both the front and rear bumpers closely resemble those of the standard Kona Electric, and the distinctive large rear wing and dual tailpipes are absent. However, it’s evident that we’re looking at a sportier iteration of the EV, thanks to the inclusion of new alloy wheels, more prominent side skirts, a rear diffuser, and concealed badges on the front fenders.

As with most N Line models, the Kona Electric could likely see improvements in suspension and steering for a sharper driving experience. While we can’t definitively confirm any performance upgrades, it’s probable that the sporty-looking trim will continue to use the stock electric motor which makes 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) in its most powerful form, combined with the larger 64.8 kWh battery pack.

Reading between the lines, a Hyundai Kona Electric N Line might opt for a more understated appearance compared to its ICE-powered counterpart, all while delivering increased speed and power. With the full-blown Kona N having been discontinued from the lineup, the second-gen of the SUV could certainly use some extra spice.
