Although he played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise, Ewan McGregor’s black-on-black Porsche 911 looks like it belongs to Darth Vader. And now, it could soon belong to you, because it’s currently for sale at auction in California.

First sold in 1972, this Porsche 911T Targa was equipped from the factory with a 2.4-liter flat-six with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, and it even comes with the beloved Fuchs alloys.

Inside, the Vader aesthetic continues with black carpeting, black trim, and seats that have black leatherette bolsters. However, the darkness is broken by the fabric seat inserts, which, in classic Porsche fashion, feature the black and white Pepita weave.

The car came into McGregor’s possession in 2019, and it was said to have been in storage since the ’70s before then. That likely made it an attractive project for the actor, who put it back on the road after a sympathetic restoration.

In addition to improving it mechanically by resealing the transaxle, replacing the clutch and flywheel, adjusting the valves, and replacing some bushings, he also added a Porsche Classic head unit with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and satellite radio.

Unfortunately, the speedometer was also repaired in 2020, meaning that its true mileage is not known. However, the odometer now shows 38,000 miles (61,155 km), only 2,000 (3,218 km) of which were added by its current owner (not McGregor) suggesting that Obi-Wan did a lot of driving in this 911.

That makes it all the more meaningful as a collector’s item, I would imagine. On the other hand, that also means that this Porsche is in fine, but not exceptional condition, which may hurt its value. On sale in Monterey, California, it will be interesting to see how much this 911T Targa sells for when the Bring a Trailer auction ends on December 18.
