The Ineos Grenadier is celebrating its U.S. launch with a recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles equipped with the optional auxiliary switch package may have a relay control wire trapped beneath the relay power cable connection nut. This would have occurred during assembly and if it happens, it could compromise the “integrity of the relay control wire insulation.”
This means the vehicle could short circuit, increasing the risk of a “thermal event or vehicle fire.” The government also says that if a short occurs, smoke may emanate from the cargo area.

The company became aware of the issue in November after a vehicle was found to have “pinched and trapped” wiring. This kicked off an investigation to determine if this was an isolated incident or a widespread problem. Only one instance has been found so far, but Ineos decided to conduct a recall out of an abundance of caution.
The recall impacts 706 vehicles from the 2024 model year and the fix is pretty straightforward as dealers will inspect the wiring and repair or replace any damage.
As a refresher, the Grenadier is a rugged body-on-frame SUV that starts at $71,500. It features a turbocharged 3.0-liter BMW inline-six that produces 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to a full-time four-wheel drive system.
