The internet is full of dancing-themed TikTok videos, so we expected that automakers would follow the trend, effectively reviving LA’s lowrider car culture. What is surprising is that the latest dancing video comes from Porsche which showcases the active suspension of the all-new Panamera in a rather unconventional manner.

The Zuffenhausen brand’s Instagram post shows the suspension of the third-gen Panamera practicing all sorts of lateral and longitudinal movements while the vehicle is stationary. The short video appears to be CGI-generated, so it is not clear if this function will be available on the production model.

In any case, the technology to make the Panamera dance is already there, as each of the four wheels can be controlled individually, absorbing any road imperfections and minimizing body roll in the corners. A similar gimmick is already available as an option in the Mercedes-Benz GLE, helping the SUV free itself when it gets stuck in the sand.

The 2024 Porsche Panamera comes standard with a two-chamber two-valve air suspension, but the video is most likely promoting the more sophisticated ‘Porsche Active Ride’ suspension which is optionally available in the Panamera E-Hybrid trims. This setup combines a new one-chamber air suspension with active shock absorbers and an electrically operated hydraulic pump, promising a wider range between comfort and driving dynamics.

During the launch of the Panamera, Porsche said that its ground clearance can be increased by up to 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in the ‘comfort access’ function, resulting in SUV-like ingress and egress. It remains to be seen if the executive model will also offer a dancing mode, which would serve no other purpose than showing off the abilities of the advanced electronics.
