The transition to a new year prompts us to anticipate what resolutions lie ahead, and I’m pretty sure I know what resolution the driver of this Ferrari Roma will be making for 2024: look a little farther down the road and drive a lot more carefully.

The crash that led to these dramatic photos happened in the early afternoon on December 31 on a highway near Warwick, England. According to the Warwickshire Police, the incident occurred after the Ferrari “overtook an off duty Police officer at speed.”

Authorities report that the driver lost control on the wet road, at a time when localized flood warnings were in effect, causing them to veer off the road and into a thicket of trees along the M40 Southbound. Fortunately, the driver walked away from the accident with only minor injuries.

The Ferrari, on the other hand, fared less favorably. In images released by Warwickshire Police, the extent of the damage is evident. A photo reveals that both the front and side curtain airbags were activated in the incident, and the impact was forceful enough to shatter the rear window.

The police said that the car went spinning off the road, and there’s clear evidence of that in the fact that both the front and rear of the Roma have suffered damage. While the trunk appears to have a big dent in it, the torn hood and exposed subframe suggest that the front took the brunt of the damage in this incident.

Fortunately, despite the pirouetting and the speed, the Ferrari was the only vehicle involved in this incident, meaning that no serious injuries occurred as a result of it. In fact, the biggest injuries caused by this accident were likely to the driver’s ego, and their wallet.

This accident is another reminder that just because a car can go quickly, doesn’t mean that it should. Weather and traffic conditions are all important things to consider, and further proof that speeding past other vehicles while there are flood warnings in place isn’t a great idea.
