What is going on with Ferrari drivers in the U.K.? As if to prove that Mustangs aren’t the only cars with a horse on the hood that can get into trouble on public streets, the driver of a striking deep purple 296 GTB with yellow stripes crashed his exotic ride on an upscale London street earlier this week.

The unfortunate accident occurred on the evening of January 1, 2024, so it wasn’t a great way to start the new year for the driver. On top of that, it’s been reported that he was not the actual owner of the 296 GTB that’s believed to be worth around £300,000 or about $380,000. This incident marks the second Ferrari crash in the U.K. in as many days, with a Roma veering off the road in Warwick just a day earlier.

Ferrari 296 GTB Prances Into Bollard Before Smashing A Lamp Pole In London

Although the license plates were removed and placed in the car, the Daily Mail reports that the car was registered to an owner in Qatar.

Fortunately, London police said that no one suffered any serious injuries in the crash, and reports indicate that the driver had exceeded the 20 mph (32 km/h) speed limit, but few other details exist. However, it appears that the Ferrari drove nose first into a bollard, then spun 180 degrees, and backed into a light pole.

From the video captured by Anytimespy, it’s clear that there is significant damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle. The impact was so powerful that it dislodged the bollard from its anchoring. Surprisingly, this turned out to be beneficial as a video captured after the incident shows a police officer and another individual removing the bollard from the ground. This was done to assist the tow truck in winching the 296 GTB off the sidewalk.

Although the extent of the damage is not fully clear, estimates suggest that it could cost as much £100,000 (around $126,300 USD at current exchange rates), per the Daily Mail. I wouldn’t want to be the one to have to tell the person who lent me their Ferrari that.

The second Ferrari crash in as many days, a red Roma went spinning off the road near Warwick, shortly after passing an off-duty police officer in an area where heavy rain and localized flooding had been reported. Although the damage to the car was significant, police reported that the driver only suffered minor injuries.
