A remarkable Porsche 918 Spyder will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s in Geneva, Switzerland between January 18-20 and could fetch as much as $2.35 million.

It’s been just over a decade since the 918 Spyder arrived on the hypercar scene and alongside the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, the three cars redefined what we thought high-performance hybrids were capable of. Porsche built 918 examples of its 875 hp weapon and while each of them is special, this car is more special than most.

Porsche offered the 918 Spyder with a host of exterior finishes from the factory, including numerous wrap options designed to mimic famous Porsche racing liveries. One of the things missing from the options list was the psychedelic theme used by the Porsche 917 but three owners commissioned their cars to be painted in a matching livery. Two of these cars were delivered to the U.S., painted in green/purple and yellow/red respectively, while this sole European model is painted in red and white in a design inspired by the theme of the number ‘23’ the 917 used during the 1970s.

This isn’t just any ordinary shade of red either. In fact, it has a Paint-to-Sample finish of Rosso Corsa, lifted directly from Ferrari, and the entire painted livery cost the owner a cool €106,111 (~$115,900). Additionally, the car has been equipped with the Weissach package and has white-painted magnesium wheels. It is number 680 of the 918 units produced and has been kept since new by the original owner in Switzerland.

Just as much effort has been made to ensure the interior stands out. The cabin is bathed in Indian Red leather with Bianco Leda piping. The car also lacks the Acid Green exterior details of most other 918s and has been personally signed by Frank-Steffen Walliser, the project manager for the 918 Spyder. It has been driven less than 800 km (497 miles) since new and the listing reveals it has more than €175,000 (~$190,000) in optional extras.
