Car haulers usually aren’t very exciting as they’re little more than a box on wheels. However, Brian James Trailers is looking to change that by introducing their all-new Race Transporter 7 at Autosport International.

Billed as a “super-premium enclosed car transporter trailer,” the RT7 draws inspiration from high-end motorhomes and sports an aerodynamically optimized design with a curvaceous front end as well as an integrated rear spoiler. They’re joined by composite bodywork and sizable aluminum side doors.

Thankfully this isn’t a case of style over substance as the trailer has an electric tilting bed that can be operated remotely. This enables it to easily accommodate “extremely low ground clearance” vehicles, while additional ramp options are available for race cars and ultra-low exotics.

That isn’t the only party trick as the rear door is powered and can be operated remotely. It opens to reveal a spacious interior with composite flooring that is lighter, stronger, and grippier than traditional deck-board. The model also has interior lighting that can be run off a battery or the tow vehicle.

The aforementioned battery can be monitored via a smartphone and it’s also used to power an electric winch, which aids in loading vehicles. The latter comes with a synthetic rope and can be operated wirelessly, although the company didn’t mention its capacity. However, BJT said a 9,500 lbs (4,309 kg) winch will be available as an option.

BJT focused on making the trailer lightweight in order to allow for a higher load capacity. As they explained, the weight limit for towing in the UK is 3.5 tonnes (7,716 lbs / 3,500 kg), including the trailer, but vehicles are getting heavier. Since there’s “no sign” of the towing limit being increased, the only solution is to manufacture lighter trailers.

Pricing starts at £25,500 ($32,340) and climbs to nearly £40,000 ($50,730) for large models with all the bells and whistles. Speaking of which, the RT7 offers twin- and tri-axle configurations as well as 18 and 20 foot (5.5 and 6 meter) lengths. Customers can also choose between two widths and an extra height version.
