We here at Carscoops are no strangers to kit cars, and I personally believe that there is an ironic charm to some of them. This car though is pushing even me to my limits.

A mishmash of automotive inspirations, it’s hard to predict what will be inside when the videographer finally opens the door to reveal the car that it’s based on. However, before we get to that, we have to go over the exterior.

Starting at the front, it has the headlights and grille of an Aston Martin, and, based on the poorly installed applique over the rear window, it appears to have been inspired by the V12 Zagato.

It also appears to have the taillights and diffuser from that car, though the video identifies them as belonging to a Ferrari 458. The confusion of brands isn’t all in their head, though, because rather than the winged Aston Martin badges that you would expect a V12 Zagato to feature, this car has the twin flags of a Chevrolet Corvette.

While that badge still amounts to automotive stolen valor, the American sports car does at least have a connection to the car on which this automotive Frankenstein is based on — it’s not clear that this makes it better, though.

Because when the videographer finally opens the door, the unmistakable interior of a compact car is revealed. In fact, this car is neither an Aston Martin nor a Ferrari or a Corvette – it is a Chevrolet Cruze.

Found on the r/Shitty_Car_Mods subreddit, the commentors have not been kind to this project. User u/The_Gansta_Cat was stunned to discover that it “was possible to ruin a Chevy Cruze,” while u/JorMath marveled that someone would drop “a truckload of money to create such a frankenstein abomination of a car.”

While I don’t necessarily disagree with these users, I will at least admit that it’s a pretty impressive abomination.

The new Aston Zagato looks good.
