Shortly after releasing an intriguing teaser video, Hyundai has premiered the Ioniq 5 N NPX1 at the Tokyo Auto Salon and as we thought may be the case, it comes equipped with a host of N Performance Parts that will be available to customers in the near future.

The car manufacturer already offers a slew of performance parts for the i30 N, Elantra N, and i20 N but the parts set to be offered for the Ioniq 5 N are even more dramatic. The front of the NPX1 prototype looks significantly more aggressive than the regular model thanks to the fitment of a revised bumper, new air intakes, and a large splitter with a baby blue accent.

Hyundai’s designers have also implemented aerodynamic fins on the trailing edges of the bumper that connect with the front fenders. The car is also sitting on a set of custom hybrid carbon N Performance wheels and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. Carbon fiber wing mirrors are also visible as are new side skirts with an aerodynamic element bathed in glossy carbon fiber and complete with the same blue accent as the front splitter.

Track day enthusiasts will probably also love what Hyundai has done with the rear of the Ioniq 5 N. The most obvious modification is the fitment of a towering rear wing with carbon fiber endplates that doesn’t just look cool but we’re sure also increases the high-speed downforce of the EV. A carbon fiber rear bumper and diffuser have also been fitted. A set of lowering springs completes the exterior look.

At the time of writing, Hyundai had not released any interior images of the Ioniq 5 N NPX1 but says it incorporates more carbon fiber and racing bucket seats. Hyundai will further develop the parts shown on the NPX1 this year before starting sales later in 2024. In addition to it launching a host of parts for the Ioniq 5 N, various new N Performance Parts will be offered for other N models.

“In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company will take a step forward as a leader in new tuning parts suitable for the high-performance EV era as demonstrated with the ‘NPX1’ concept model,” N Brand Management Group vice president Joon Park said. “Not limited to tuning parts, we are also developing software customisation such as sound and vehicle calibration by OTA updates which will open a completely new category of EV customisation for an exciting future ahead for the tuning community.”
