Picking up the keys to a new car is always exciting but what should have been a joyous celebration for the owner of this new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody quickly turned disastrous after a series of mistakes were made by the car transporter.

We only have a single short video shared to Instagram to go off and while we have limited details about where in the U.S. this incident occurred, it’s plain to see that things quickly started to unravel for the truck driver when one of the ramps he had lined up slipped out of position under the driver’s side front wheel.

For a split second, it looks like the man may be able to recover and he probably could have applied the parking brake and called for help to help reposition the car. Instead, he decides the best option is to let off the brakes and hit the throttle, accelerating the Challenger off the end of the ramp before the rear end of the car comes crashing down and strikes the tail of the transporter, almost completely ripping off the bumper.

It’s hard to say precisely how much damage the car has sustained in the incident but at best, it will at least need a new rear bumper and a new exhaust as it too looks to have been bent. In the worst case, suspension components may have cracked and the wheels may have been buckled. Whatever the case may be, the car will now require some expensive repairs before its owner is going to have the opportunity to enjoy it.

Fortunately, the car should be repairable and this certainly isn’t the worst transporter truck fail we’ve seen. A couple of years ago, a video of a Jaguar F-Type falling off the second level of a truck was doing the rounds on social media and it likely suffered significantly more damage than this Dodge.
