Stellantis has inked a multi-billion euro agreement with Sixt that will see the rental car giant buy up to 250,000 vehicles from the carmaker for its European and North American fleets over the next three years.

The news comes shortly after rival Hertz dropped a bombshell revealing it will sell approximately 20,000 EVs and switch to combustion-powered vehicles instead. Sixt has not made any bold proclamations about how many EVs it will buy from Stellantis, simply confirming that it will purchase a “full range of propulsion types, including battery-electric vehicles.”

Vehicles will be supplied from the full suite of Stellantis brands, including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroen, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, Vauxhall, and even Maserati. The agreement reached between the two companies allows for flexibility in the order quantities, order compositions, and delivery dates of vehicles.

In addition, the two companies will explore the possibility of incorporating Stellantis’ data as a service (DaaS) business, Mobilisights, that provides and develops data packages for developing and licensing business-to-business products. Sixt will have many more connected vehicles in its fleet thanks to the deal with Stellantis and important details like fuel level and mileage will be transmitted automatically to the rental company when a vehicle is returned.
