The Ford E-Transit SuperVan 4.2 is heading to Australia and will hit the nation’s most famous racetrack, Mount Panorama, during the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour race weekend.

Roughly six months after conquering the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the all-electric demonstrator model will make its debut at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour weekend, with Romain Dumas behind the wheel for a series of demonstration runs. The SuperVan will continue to be showcased until the following weekend for the Thrifty Bathurst 500 Supercars season opener, where it will also be on display.

“Driving SuperVan 4.2 is always a huge privilege and after the successful outing at Pikes Peak, I am delighted that the Ford Performance team keep finding new and exciting ways to push the envelope,” Dumas said. “For any racing driver, Bathurst is a unique and exhilarating challenge and I can’t wait to give the Australian fans a show they will hopefully never forget.”

1,400HP Ford E-Transit SuperVan 4.2 Will Bring Its Colossal Wing To Bathurst Race

The all-electric SuperVan 4 was first presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in mid-2022 before being revised and transformed into the 4.2 for last year’s Race to the Clouds in Colorado. It is powered by three electric motors that deliver 1,400 hp. Moreover, a plethora of modifications were made to it, including completely refining the bodywork to produce 4,400 lbs (1,995 kg) of downforce at 150 mph (242 km/h).

Furthermore, Ford reduced the number of STARD electric motors from four to three, but still managed to squeeze out 1,400 hp. Perhaps the most significant changes made were on the weight saving front with almost 400 kg (882 lbs) stripped out from the race car.

“SuperVan 4.2 will take on the challenge of Mount Panorama in the same configuration it raced in at Pikes Peak – as the ultimate expression of what is possible with electric performance and Ford’s EV technology,” Ford Performance Motorsports global director Mark Rushbrook added. “Mount Panorama stands tall as the ultimate motorsport challenge in Australia, and we are excited to see SuperVan 4.2 attack its legendary twists and turns.”
