Following the recent teasers of the upcoming M5 Touring, BMW M shows us the silhouette of the fully electric i5 Touring in a performance-focused guise. The automaker didn’t announce the debut date of the sporty wagon, but it is safe to assume it will take place sometime in the next few weeks.

The name of the trim is not mentioned in the shadowy teaser, but it most likely depicts the i50 Touring M60 xDrive. As a refresher, the equivalent i5 sedan makes 593 hp (442 kW / 601 PS) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque from a dual electric motor setup. Energy is sourced from a battery pack with a usable capacity of 81.2 kWh, figures that are expected to be carried over in the Touring version.

After numerous teasers, spy shots, renderings, and leaked patent drawings, we are pretty familiar with the design of the 5-Series and i5 Touring. The wagon shares the front part of its bodywork with the sedan, adding a redesigned roofline and rear end with slim LED taillights.

As for the M60 xDrive trim that appears in the short video above, it will feature a flashier bodykit courtesy of the BMW M division. Differences with the lesser i5 include a sportier set of bumpers, more aerodynamic mirror caps, larger-diameter wheels, and a collection of M badges. Still, the EV won’t look as dramatic as the M5 Touring which will sit at the top of the range featuring an even more powerful plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain.

Unfortunately for US buyers, the BMW i5 Touring won’t be available in North America. On the contrary, the Bavarian automaker confirmed its availability for 27 countries in the European Union, plus the UK, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, and Taiwan.
