Hyundai and Iveco are teaming up on a new electric commercial vehicle for Europe.
The firms didn’t go into many specifics, but confirmed the model will be based on Hyundai’s global eLCV platform and debut at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover, Germany this September.
The Iveco-badged vehicle will be the first export model to use Hyundai’s new platform, which has been specifically made for “commercial vehicles ranging from GVW 2.5 tons to 3.5 tons.” The companies added Hyundai will manufacture and supply the chassis cab, while Iveco will customize and distribute it.

We can expect to learn more in the coming months, but it sounds like the vehicle will have a low load floor that allows for improved cargo hauling capabilities. That’s not much to go on, but the model will give Iveco another entry in the bustling van segment.

This isn’t the first tie-up between Hyundai and Iveco as they’ve previously worked together on hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles such as the eDaily FCEV and E-Way FCEV. The firms added this “new agreement not only signifies an extension of their partnership to encompass a broader array of eco-friendly lineups, but also underscores the shared commitment of both companies to accelerate the transition toward carbon-neutral mobility and transport.”
Hyundai’s Ken Ramírez echoed that sentiment as he said, “We believe our Global eLCV platform, coupled with Iveco Group’s expertise in the European market, will be a transformative force in the LCV market, contributing to the acceleration of a carbon-neutral future in Europe.”
