A handful of 2024 Nissan Murano models are being recalled in the United States because they have side quarter glass panels that could detach.
A recall notice reveals that impacted cars may have been manufactured with an incorrect primer on the quarter glass panels. As such, the urethane adhesive bond may be broken and both the left and right glass panels could separate while driving. That poses a safety risk to other vehicles and increases the risk of a crash, Nissan says.
Nissan says that owners of impacted 2024 Murano models may be alerted to an issue if they hear an increase in wind noise from the glass panel and a rattle.

The issue was first noticed by a Nissan technician on October 11, 2023, after an incorrect primer was loaded in the equipment used to assemble the rear quarter glass. Nissan conducted an audit of 72 Murano models in its yard and fixed them. Two days later, it initiated a quality hold for 14 examples already delivered to dealerships and had eight of them repaired. It has since issued a recall to fix the remaining six vehicles.
All impacted 2024 Murano models were manufactured between October 11, 2023, and October 12, 2023.
Owners of the potentially affected vehicles will be alerted to the recall from March 1, 2024, and dealers will be instructed to replace the left and right quarter glass panels free of charge. The repair should take around 3 hours to complete.
This is not the only recent recall to impact a Nissan SUV. In December, the car manufacturer announced it was recalling two examples of the 2021 Rogue that were not included in a 2021 recall related to faulty brake calipers.
