The number of companies offering restorations and modifications for classic Porsche 911 models has exploded and while most would agree that Singer still leads the charge, Gunther Werks isn’t far behind, having built some seriously impressive 911s of its own. This is one of them.
The 1996 911 is known as the ‘Chelsea Grey Commission’ and will hit the market next month as part of RM Sotheby’s Miami auction. Interestingly, this is not the first time the car has headed to auction as in September last year, it was listed through Bring a Trailer but failed to sell, despite bidding of it reaching $1.15 million.

Gunther Werks first showcased this very car at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in 2018 and it is one of just 25 units fitted with their ‘Sport Touring’ package. Among the key visual changes are the flared wheel arches, the large ducktail spoiler, and the red Porsche decals running along the doors. It also rides on a beautiful set of bronze-painted 18-inch forged aluminum wheels.

RM Sotheby’s expects the car to sell for between $1 million and $1.3 million. The winning bidder will receive the keys to a 911 that looks gorgeous and is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-6 built by Rothsport Racing with roughly 400 ponies. This engine is coupled to a Getrag G50 six-speed manual sending power through the rear wheels.
Another highlight is the interior. The gorgeous carbon fiber-backed racing sets are clad in luscious red leather, a material that also extends across parts of the dashboard and door panels. Gunther Werks has also fitted a gorgeous aluminum shifter and plenty of black Alcantara parts, including the new steering wheel.
