Police in Panama City Beach, Florida have an exciting new vehicle in their fleet but unfortunately, it won’t be used to chase down criminals. Instead, it will be used for community events.

That vehicle is a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and local authorities came into possession of it last year. Before you think they wasted taxpayer dollars on it, they didn’t. Instead, the car was ‘acquired’ in April 2023 when the owner, 25-year-old Alexander Casey, was arrested while fleeing from police in it and carrying both illegal narcotics and possessing firearms.

The Panama City Beach Police Department swiftly seized the car under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act and in December, sent it to Lightning Graphics Inc to be adorned with a special wrap.

Most of the car now sports a bright shade of blue but the front quarter panels and doors are trimmed in white with ‘Panama City Beach Police’ and ‘Seized for Service’ text on the sides. The rear quarter panels are particularly striking and feature an image of a local pier.

“This vehicle will now be featured in our ‘Cops and Kids’ program, serving as a dynamic tool for public relations and community outreach,” the Panama City Beach Police Department confirmed in a statement. “It stands as a powerful reminder of the consequences of illegal narcotics possession and transportation, reinforcing the message of law adherence and community responsibility. We anticipate that the presence of this visually striking Corvette, alongside K9 Officer Rouge, will significantly enhance our community events, fostering a sense of unity and awareness, especially among the youth.”

The car won’t stay in the police department’s fleet forever as it will eventually be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
