Many of us would love to have the opportunity to drive an open-wheeled race car or better yet, a Formula 1 car. Unfortunately, this is an opportunity very few will ever get. Is buying a simulator like this the next best option?

We recently stumbled across this F1 simulator while browsing through Mecum Auctions and it caught our attention. It’s worth noting that this is not an official Formula 1 simulator used by a team nor is it anywhere near as advanced but it is still pretty damn cool.

The most impressive thing about this simulator is that it consists of a full-size replica of an open-wheeled race car that sits on a platform that can be rolled around. This means you can sit in a feet-up position just like in a real F1 car and get a similar perspective of the track to a racing driver.

The simulator also features a trio of Samsung screens and a modified Logitech G29 steering wheel. Heck, the cabin even sports functional Sabelt harnesses, not that they are necessary.

The listing on Meccum for the simulator doesn’t provide any details about what kind of hardware the simulator uses but we can see there is a PC hidden beneath the car’s bodywork.

Does owning a simulator like this have any purpose other than being a bit of fun? Probably not but if you have a large man cave that needs a central point of focus, then this could be a good option. Of course, it is much larger than many other off-the-shelf simulators so transporting it to your crib could be quite a costly endeavor.

Mecum has not disclosed its anticipated selling price for the simulator, but it’s reasonable to assume that it won’t come cheap.
