One of the more striking 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder models ever built will be auctioned off by Gooding & Company later this week and may sell for as much as $3 million. If it reaches that lofty price, it would be significantly more than the $1.6 million – $1.9 million range that most 918s have been selling for over the past few years.

This 918 Spyder is one of 28 examples allocated for the Canadian market and one of two ordered by the original owner. This collector reached out to Porsche to see if they would finish his two 918s in a Gulf Oil racing livery but they refused because Porsche and Gulf Oil no longer had an official partnership. However, Porsche agreed that if the buyer could get Gulf Oil’s permission himself, they would build them. He did just that and in late 2015, the two cars were manufactured with slight differences in their striping, seat piping, and interior trim.

This Porsche 918 Is One Of Just 2 With A Gulf Oil Livery

A key difference between this 918 and most others with racing liveries is that it isn’t a vinyl wrap but was painted like this. The car has also been equipped with the optional Weissach package, a front-axle lift system, carbon fiber mats with Gulf Orange piping, a matching set of luggage, a Burmester Surround Sound system, and six-point racing harnesses.

According to the listing, this is number 325 of the 918 examples built and complementing the wild exterior are a handful of unique interior touches. These include orange piping and stitching on the black leather seats and an embossed Gulf pattern on the headrests. Adding to the car’s desirability is the fact that it has been driven just 376 miles (605 km) since new.
