A new pair of recalls from Ford involves over 25,000 vehicles from both 2023 and 2024 model years. The smaller of the two involves windows that might pop out of Bronco SUVs and the larger regards parking brakes on Super Duty trucks that could release too easily.

In the case of the Bronco, Ford is recalling 7,527 units from 2023 and 2024. The carmaker expects to find approximately 46 percent of the recalled vehicles with an issue where the rear three-quarter windows haven’t adhered to the top sufficiently. Ford found the issue before it received a single warranty claim or report from the field, with the problem popping up during an adhesion verification test.

At that point, Ford Research Lab did an x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis of the glass and found that it didn’t have clear coat primer on it. That primer acts as an activator that promotes adhesion. As such, glass pieces without that primer didn’t meet Ford’s internal requirements. Recalled Broncos will have that glass panel inspected and reinstalled as required.

In the case of the Super Duty trucks, the issue affects the F650 and F750 from 2023 and 2024. Some of these trucks might have a faulty parking brake that can release with minimal pressure on the parking brake handle and none on the release button itself. Ford found that some of the mechanical parts and pieces were made with “suspect dimensions.”

Of course, if a parking brake is disengaged unintentionally it could present a serious roll-away risk. The automaker says that it’s still working on a remedy but that ultimately it’ll require hardware that meets design specifications. It’s recalling 18,244 of these vehicles but expects to find faulty parking brakes in only five percent of the recalled vehicles.

Ford says that it has notified dealers about the issue and will mail letters to owners no later than April 8, 2024. Those who own any of the potentially affected vehicles can check their VIN at NHTSA.gov or call their local dealership.
