Although one never wants to get into a crash, Nissan Rogue owners really don’t want to get into an accident until a pair of recalls that seek to remedy issues with the front seatbelts and airbags have been completed.
The first affects 9,720 Rogues from the 2023 model year, whose front seat lap belt tensioners may be partially crimped. Nissan says its supplier, ZF Occupant Safety Systems, is to blame for this manufacturing error.
Fortunately, the automaker is not yet aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries that have resulted from the crimped lap belt. However, in an accident, the belt may fail to restrain front seat occupants as intended, increasing the risk of an injury.

As a result, the company is launching a recall campaign, and will start reaching out to owners on April 19. Affected 2023 Rogue owners will be asked to return their vehicles to a nearby Nissan dealer, where both front seatbelt assemblies will be replaced with new ones that perform as specified.
The second recall that the Rogue is wrapped up in impacts fewer vehicles in total, but a wider variety of models. On top of the 2023 Rogue, the 2023-2024 Nissan Kicks, Sentra and Versa, as well as the 2024 Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder, and Titan, in addition to the 2023-2024 Infiniti QX50, and the 2024 Infiniti QX60 may be implicated.
The Japanese group reports that only a small number of these vehicles, totaling just 351 units, were fitted with airbag inflators that may have been misassembled by Daicel Safety Systems America. These components lack a gasket, which could potentially lead to moisture ingress into the inflator, resulting in buildup over time.
Over a long enough period of time, that could have an adverse effect on the propellant, which could ultimately deteriorate airbag performance. That leaves drivers of these vehicles at a heightened risk of suffering an injury if they are involved in an accident.
Again, Nissan is not aware of any injuries relating to this fault, but is launching a recall to remove and replace the suspect airbag inflators. The automaker plans to start getting in touch with owners on April 10.
