AC Cars is celebrating their 123rd anniversary by announcing plans to introduce the all-new Cobra GT Coupe this spring.

The company isn’t saying much at this point, but the model will be based on the Cobra GT Roadster that was introduced last year and recently went into production. While the teaser image isn’t very revealing, the automaker said the model will have the “same aesthetic touch points as the GT Roadster, but with the practicality of a fully enclosed cockpit.”

This suggests we can expect a retro-inspired design, which incorporates some modern touches. We’ll learn full details soon enough, but we can expect a carbon-composite body that is significantly larger than the original AC Cobra and should be able to accommodate drivers over six-feet (1.8 meters) tall. We can also expect a modern interior that combines analogue gauges with a 10.25-inch infotainment system.

There could also be a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 developing 654 hp (488 kW / 663 PS) and 575 lb-ft (780 Nm) of torque. In Roadster guise, the model can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 173 mph (278 km/h).

The coupe will ride on an aluminum space frame and be powered by a “thunderous” 5.0-liter V8. Judging by the Roadster, we can expect an entry-level variant with 454 hp (338 kW / 460 PS) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

While a number of questions remain, the coupe will likely follow in the footsteps of the roadster and be offered in left and right-hand drive configurations. We can also expect automatic and manual transmissions as well as a production cap to ensure exclusivity.

AC Cars is currently accepting reservations, although you’ll likely need a sizable bank account as the Roadster begins at £240,000 ($307,445 / €280,832).
