Porsche unveiled the new performance flagship of its EV portfolio, the Taycan Turbo GT. The most powerful and dynamic version of the fully electric sports sedan produces up to 1,092 hp (815 kW / 1,108 PS), and is blessed with a series of aerodynamic and chassis upgrades, in line with the legacy of Porsche’s GT-branded models. Furthermore, the optional Weissach package sheds weight, turning it into a two-seater track monster.

The Taycan Turbo GT is fitted with an enhanced version of the dual-motor powertrain found in the Taycan Turbo S. Porsche engineers added a new rear electric motor controlled by a “more powerful and efficient pulse inverter” using silicon carbide as the semiconductor material. They also improved the transmission ratio and the “robustness” of the gearbox.

As a result, the combined output is 777 hp (580 kW / 789 PS), which climbs to 1,019 hp (760 kW / 1,033 PS) when the launch control is activated, and to the full 1,092 hp (815 kW / 1,108 PS) which is available for two seconds. This number blesses the Taycan Turbo GT with the title of the most powerful series-production Porsche of all time, surpassing all other Taycan versions and the 918 Spyder. As for the torque figure, this is rated at a monstrous 988 lb-ft (1,340 Nm).

According to Zuffenhausen, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 2.2 seconds, or 2.1 seconds when fitted with the optional Weissach package. Similarly, the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) sprint is completed in 6.6 seconds or 6.4 seconds respectively, while the top speed is 190 mph (306 km/h).

Another highlight is the Attack Mode which unlocks an extra 160 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) of power for 10 seconds, inspired by the Formula E racers. The standard Taycan already came with a “push-to-pass” feature, but the Attack Mode offers more boost and is easier to activate and deactivate using the right-hand paddle.

More Aggressive Looks And A Revised Chassis Setup

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT communicates its track-focused character with a redesigned bodykit. The standout visual feature is the adaptive rear spoiler with a Gurney flap. The wing is complemented by a prominent splitter with integrated “aeroblades”, and a similar treatment for the rear diffuser. Together with the air deflector elements on the underbody, the total downforce is 485 lbs (220 kg) of downforce in the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package.

Another highlight is the carbon fiber finish on the B-pillars, matching the inlays on the side skirts and mirror caps. The model is available in six shades including the new Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic which appear in the official gallery. However, owners can customize it further by applying decals, or with the optional paint-to-sample program of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division.

More importantly, there is a fresh set of 21-inch lightweight forged wheels shod in grippier tires. Besides saving weight, the wheel spokes are designed to improve the cooling of Porsche’s improved ceramic brakes, highlighted by the Victory Gold calipers. The stronger braking system is combined with a Turbo GT-specific tuning for the standard Porsche Active Ride suspension.

Inside, Porsche chose Race-Tex and black leather upholstery for the 18-way adjustable Adaptive Sports Seats and the GT Sport steering wheel. The Turbo GT emblem can be found on the headrests, and the center console. The pictured dark-themed cabin can be optionally spiced up with Volt Blue, or GT Silver contrasting tones, alongside different shades for the contrasting stitching.

The Weissach package eliminates the rear seats, the analog clock, the floor and trunk mats, and some of the insulation material, to shed as much weight as possible. Porsche went as far as keeping only a single charging port on the passenger side, which is now manually operated, and used a lighter material for the trunk. Furthermore, the Sound Package Plus deletes the Bose Surround Sound system and adds special sound- and heat-insulating glass. As a result, the Taycan Turbo GT is up to 157 lbs (71 kg) lighter than the Taycan Turbo S, further improving the power-to-weight ratio.

Record-Breaking Lap Times

Porsche announced that the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package is the “fastest electric series-production car” at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca with a lap time of 1:27.87. The record run took place on February 23, 2024, with Porsche development driver Lars Kern at the helm.

In January 2024, a pre-production prototype of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the same driver set a lap time of 7:07.55 at the Nürburgring making it the “fastest four-door of any powertrain type” at the Green Hell. This impressive feat surpasses the rival Tesla Model S Plaid by 18 seconds, the Taycan Turbo S by a mere 26 seconds, and falls just 2.25 seconds short of the Rimac Nevera hypercar’s time.

Deliveries of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT are expected to commence in summer 2024. Pricing starts from $230,000 before tax, title, registration, dealer charges, and the $1,995 delivery fee. This is $21,000 more expensive compared to the Taycan Turbo S, making it the priciest Taycan derivative to date.
