Lancia has unveiled the latest evolution of their famed HF logo and confirmed it will grace a high-performance Ypsilon.
Starting with the newly introduced sub-compact model, the Ypsilon HF will arrive next year and be 100% electric. Despite this, the company claimed the car will come with an “engine” that develops 237 hp (177 kW / 240 PS) and enables the hatch to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.8 seconds.
While the engine reference is an amusing oversight, it’s worth noting the HF variant will have an additional 83 hp (62 kW / 84 PS). The company also confirmed the hot hatch will have a wider track and a sportier suspension with a reduced ride height.

Little else is known about the Ypsilon HF at this point, but the standard model has a 51 kWh battery pack that provides 250 miles (403 km) of range in the WLTP combined cycle. The model also has two 10.25-inch displays, a wireless smartphone charger, and a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving system.
As for the logo itself, it’s an evolution of the original that dates back to 1960, composed of the little elephant and the acronym. It looks immediately familiar and the automaker noted the “colors of the HF logo – white, red, and black – have been reused, without adding graphic elements, but simplifying them and making them purer, while respecting the unmistakable geometries of the Lancia brand.” The company went on to say the new logo is more contemporary as well as a “perfect balance between past and future.”

While the logo will debut on the upcoming Ypsilon HF, it will eventually spread to other high-performance variants. The company was coy on specifics, but Lancia has previously confirmed plans to launch three new models. CEO Luca Napolitano also hinted at a return to rallying in today’s announcement.
