BMW has announced the upcoming debut of another fully electric concept, to be named Vision Neue Klasse X. This SUV model serves as the follow-up to the well-received Vision Neue Klasse sedan unveiled in September 2023, providing a preview of the successor to the iX3, slated for production in 2025.

The first official teaser of the concept focuses on its dashboard. The infotainment display mirrors that of the earlier Vision Neue Klasse, while the BMW Panoramic Vision head-up display sits at the base of the windshield alongside the rear-view mirror. However, the Vision Neue Klasse X features a distinct center console, ultra-thin climate vents, a redesigned steering wheel, and a fresh color scheme blending white with orange.

The spy shots of a mystery BMW SUV concept that appeared online a few weeks ago most likely showed the Vision Neue Klasse X. As with the interior, the exterior of the SUV is closer to production status compared to the sedan, judging from the alloy wheels and the plastic cladding. This was also confirmed by earlier sightings of camouflaged prototypes, revealing familiar styling traits applied on a taller body.

The production version of the Vision Neue Klasse X is anticipated to replace the fully electric BMW iX3, while a different model will succeed the ICE-powered X3. This zero-emission SUV will be built on the Neue Klasse architecture and will introduce the sixth generation of BMW’s eDrive system, incorporating 800-volt technology. The next-generation lithium-ion batteries are expected to be smaller and lighter, offering a driving range of 800 km (500 miles) and 30 percent faster charging.

BMW hasn’t communicated a reveal a debut date for the Vision Neue Klasse X. However, Domagoj Dukec, Head of BMW Design, shared the official teaser on his personal Instagram account, stating: “Can’t wait to show you this! Only a few days left!”. This suggests the concept might be revealed during the BMW Group Annual Conference, scheduled for March 21, 2024.
