Electric vehicles largely remain more expensive than their gas rivals, but a staggering new lease deal for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in the U.S. has made it the cheapest new car to lease in the country, regardless of powertrain.
Hyundai recently introduced a national leasing deal for the 2024 Ioniq 6 SE that makes it available for just $239 per month for 24 months with just $239 due at signing, before taxes and fees. This could prove to be the best leasing deal we see all year.
Leases like this typically require a large sum at signing. Last week, Hyundai launched a lease for the Ioniq 5 priced at just $213 per month, but it included $3,480 at signing. This new deal, including taxes and fees, will allow shoppers to walk away in a new Ioniq 6 for around $260 – $280 per month, depending on their location and the exact specification of the car.

If you have been holding out to buy an EV and waiting for a good promotion, this is probably the best deal you’ll see for quite some time.
An analysis from Cars Direct reveals that of the more than 540 leasing incentives it has researched, this one for the Ioniq 6 is the cheapest. In South California, it is much cheaper than leasing a 2024 Toyota Corolla LE at $299 per month for 36 months with $2,999 due at signing.
This incredible deal has been active since March 19 and will be available until April 1.
While many have been put off by the Ioniq 6’s controversial exterior design, it remains a compelling EV. The SE Standard Range is powered by a 53 kWh battery pack that gives it 240 miles (386 km) of range. Power comes courtesy of a rear-mounted motor with 149 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. Its most direct rival, the Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, is available for $329 for 36 months with $5,524 due at signing, making it significantly more expensive.
