Ford just issued a pair of recalls affecting 477 vehicles across three different model lines. The larger of the two involves four-cylinder Mustangs that might have a damaged or cut fuel line. The second and smaller recall involves incorrectly manufactured Michelin tires that might have found their way onto a Bronco Sport or Maverick.
In total, Ford is recalling 362 Mustangs from the 2024 year model and it expects to find a faulty low-pressure fuel line in all of them. According to Ford, someone at the Tier 1 supplier it uses “performed an unauthorized and unnecessary manual re-work process to improve the uneven finish of the fuel line outer sleeve with a hand-held cutting tool.”

As a result, Ford believes that all vehicles in the recall population have this damaged or cut fuel line that connects the underbody line to the high-pressure fuel pump. Clearly, leaky fuel could present a serious safety risk. As such, Ford asks owners to come into a dealership so that it can inspect and replace these parts as needed.
The Bronco Sport And Maverick Recall
In the second recall, Ford says that 2023 Bronco Sport and 2023 Maverick vehicles might have misbuilt tires. What’s a misbuilt tire? According to official recall documents, Michelin accidentally used a mislabeled bobbin during tire production. That bobbin led to the suspect tires having “a hybrid cap ply made of aramid and nylon instead of an all-nylon composition.”
Ford’s engineering team believes this represents a safety risk as the incorrectly manufactured tires will perform quite differently than normal ones. As a result, the company is recalling 115 Mavericks and Bronco Sports in total. It didn’t specify how many of each tire, but it did provide more info stating that it’s a Michelin Primacy All-Season in size 225/60/18.
That should automatically rule out any Bronco Sport or Maverick that comes standard with all-terrain tires. It will, of course, also rule out those with 17-inch wheels. Notably, the Bronco Sport Outer Banks is one of the few in the lineup that specifically comes with 18-inch wheels and doesn’t get all-terrain tires so owners beware.
