Lingenfelter’s New 7.0-Liter V8 Naturally Aspirates 700 HP For C8 Corvette

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering says a new 7.0-liter 700-horsepower (521 kW) V8 with 600 lb-ft (812 Nm) of torque for the Corvette is coming soon. In fact, it’s coming without any sort of forced induction either and it’ll make that power on pump gas when it hits the market. Additional parts from Lingenfelter will raise those figures even higher.

Dubbed the Eliminator Spec S 7.0L 427 LT2, this highly customized V8 is one of the few Lingenfelter engines that isn’t an LS. Instead, it leverages the LT2 design that’s already used in the C8 Corvette Stingray as the basis for this new build. The team strokes the engine to 427 cubic inches (7.0 liters) and then goes to work adding supporting parts.

Those include a CNC blueprinted and sleeved block, Callies connecting rods, Mahle pistons, CNC ported cylinder heads, and a unique camshaft by Comp Cams designed specifically to work on this application. Not only does the final package make 700 horsepower at 6,700 rpm but it does so on 91 octane pump gas (not even 93!). Maximum torque comes on at 4800 rpm.

These figures are large improvements on the already powerful stock LT2 found in the C8 Corvette. It makes 490 horsepower (365 kW) and 465 lb-ft (629 Nm) of torque so Lingenfelter is adding quite a bit of power on both fronts. In fact, the new 7.0-liter engine is capable of going above and beyond 700 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. Those who also add Lingenfelter’s carbon pTR intake manifold and throttle body can expect up to 715 hp ( kW) and 614 lb-ft ( Nm) of torque.

That makes Lingenfelter’s 7.0-liter LT2 what will likely be the most powerful NA V8 developed for the C8 when it gets to market. It’s even more potent than the 670 hp (499 kW) and 470 lb-ft (636 Nm) Corvette Z06. Of course, Chevrolet developed an entirely new, 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine for that car, the LT6, rather than modify the LT2.

For now, the tuner is still in the testing phase with the Eliminator but it appears as though the finished product will launch this year. Lingenfelter hasn’t announced pricing, availability, or an exact launch timeline. Nevertheless, we expect interested parties to snap these up as soon as they’re available for purchase.
