It seems like some Dodge dealers and Challenger owners appear to be huffing something as they’re continuing to demand exorbitant prices for their muscle cars. And we’re not just talking about Demon 170s either; they’re asking for as much as $385,000 for non-Demon Hellcat Redeye models. Let’s take a closer look at the cars available, each marked up by six figures that we discovered on Autotrader alone.

Dealers and sellers might try to hide their shady greedy pricing tactics, but on Autotrader, they have to be transparent. That’s allowed us to get a clear and clean look at what they actually want for these cars. Kicking things off is a used Demon 170 listed as a Hellcat Redeye for $286,631. That’s about double what MSRP likely is on the car.

Three different Demon 170s feature prices of $299k and this time, all three are “new.” From this point forward, every car is well over twice its original MSRP including one in California for $300k, another lightly used example in Georgia for $312k, and a $321k car in New Jersey. These sellers must not think they’ll have the trouble moving these cars for these kinds of prices that online auction platforms do.

We counted almost two-dozen examples of Demon 170s going for well in excess of $200k but that might not be the most shocking part. Some Challenger Hellcat Redeye owners are asking for this kind of cash for their cars too. The owner of a used 2023 Hellcat Widebody Coupe wants $330,000 for their car.

To their credit, they did leave the plastic on for the next buyer to peel off. Is that worth the additional $200ish thousand bucks over MSRP? It’s not even the most expensive non-Demon 170 on this list. That honor goes to one “new” Hellcat Redeye in Vermont with an asking price of $390,000!

There’s also one listed for $449,990, but even though it doesn’t appear to be mentioned in the description, a visit to the dealer’s site reveals it’s actually for a pair of matching purple 2023 Demon 170s, so we’ll let this one pass as we’ve seen much worse here.

In perhaps the most egregious example of profiteering here, one seller is offering their used Demon 170 with 501 miles on the odometer for $399,999. That’s the highest price of any that we’ve found, and the photos included in the listing are well, underwhelming. Except for the ones where they showcase the Demon 170 at a car show.

What’s the most outrageous price you’ve come across for a Dodge Challenger -Demon or not- lately?
