  • Police responded to a crashed Italian supercar only to find nobody behind the wheel.
  • After a brief search, it turns out that a 13-year-old boy was driving the car and had a friend with them.
  • Now, they’re facing adult-sized charges for the event that ended with a totaled Lamborghini.

People crash supercars all the time and when it’s dark and wet outside that happens even more. No shocker there. However, what’s rare is when the driver in question is just 13 years old. Yep, you heard that right. That’s what officers found by searching for the responsible parties involved in a Lamborghini Huracan crash that occurred in in West Vancouver.

Now, the adventurous tyke is facing some serious charges related to the joyride.

Around 11 pm on March 25, police responded to a call about a single-vehicle accident on the Trans Canada Highway. When they arrived at the scene, the car, a red Lamborghini Huracan, was badly damaged and surprisingly, empty of passengers. At that point, police went into action trying to find the driver.

“Officers began an exhaustive search to ensure the well-being of the driver and any passengers,” said Sergeant Chris Bigland of the West Vancouver Police Department. “With the cooperation of the vehicle owner, we were able to promptly locate and interview occupants of the car who were uninjured.” Officers determined that indeed, it was a 13-year-old behind the wheel during the crash.

Rather than attempting to steal the Huracan, the kid evidently just wanted to impress a friend. “The youth and a friend decided to take the car for a drive but were unable to control the car in the dark and rainy conditions. While significant property damage has been done, we are grateful that no one was hurt in the collision” Bigland added.

The extent of the damage in terms of dollar amounts remains unclear. A single snapshot of the scene offers only a glimpse of the destruction: the front clip and one headlight are completely gone, while the front passenger wheel displays noticeable damage.

Additionally, the front wing mirror is dangling off the door, and the side skirt appears broken too. The rear end also appears significantly impacted. In light of these events, the kid is now facing serious charges, including speeding, driving without due care, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

But hey, at least it makes for a memorable story to tell once they’re old enough to actually hold a driver’s license.
