BMW is reportedly planning to launch nearly 40 new or updated models in the next five years

BMW recently hosted a dealer convention in Las Vegas, where the automaker gave retailers a glimpse into the future. It sounds like they have a lot to look forward to as the company will reportedly launch nearly 40 new or updated models over the course of the next five years.
That’s according to Automotive News, who talked to several dealers following the two day event. The publication says attendees were shown an assortment of upcoming vehicles including the new 2-Series Gran Coupe as well as the redesigned X3 and X5.

The X3 will reportedly arrive in the United States later this year and have a more substantial appearance. The X5, on the other hand, is slated to have a “mean” look that will apparently include X-shaped daytime running lights.
Dealers were also shown the M5 Touring, which will reportedly produce more than 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS). That’s not surprising given the model is expected to echo the XM Label and have a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, a lithium-ion battery pack, and an electric motor that is integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup gives the crossover a combined output of 738 hp (550 kW / 748 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque.
A dealer who talked to the publication described the wagon as a “buzz” model. As a result, it’ll likely generate more excitement than sales.
BMW X3 / SH Proshots
On the EV side, the automaker reportedly showcased the upcoming Mini Aceman as well as “next-generation electric sedan and crossover concepts.” Details about the latter are limited, but the company is preparing an assortment of Neue Klasse EVs and recently introduced a crossover concept.
As for the Aceman, it’s slated to be introduced later this month. However, pictures of the model have already been published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and they reveal a stylish crossover with edgy styling as well as plastic body cladding.
The model will slot beneath the Countryman and is expected to be offered with an assortment of electric powertrains. The entry-level variant could have a 40.7 kWh battery pack and a 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) motor, while the S model may have a larger 54.2 kWh battery and an increased output of 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS).
