Man Is Running A Car Rental Service From His House – And His Neighbors Are Upset

During the pandemic, lots of folks have had to change the way they make a living and we’ve all heard about the great resignation so it’s a little surprising to hear about a whole neighborhood that’s upset about one guy and his business. Of course, that doesn’t involve banging away at his keyboard inside his home office or selling hand-painted action figures out of his basement. No, he’s running a car rental business from his home.

You might be wondering exactly what type of home this is. If he’s running it out of a 10,000 sqft (929 sqm) mansion then why is this even a story? And if he’s running it out of a four-plex with a single dedicated parking space then he’s clearly in the wrong. Instead of either extreme, Yosef Rabinovitz, the owner of Take It EZ LLC, the business in question, owns a 1,500 sqft (139 sqm) single-family home in Hollywood, Florida.

Out of this home, he’s renting numerous vehicles including a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Chevrolet Corvette, and a couple of Teslas too. What’s more interesting is that he’s renting all of these for what sound like pretty reasonable prices. The Jeep goes for just $75 while the Corvette costs $125 and the Teslas split the difference at $99.

Those are low prices for such esteemed metal. And it’s those same prices that have driven so much business to Rabinovitz’s house that neighbors are pissed. Tim Flasher, a resident of the area told Local 10 News “We are dealing with Airbnb’s all over the place, it is hard to live here, things have changed so much since 1970… Now we have a car rental place. What’s next? My house is for sale right now. I’m done with it.”

Flasher says that he noticed the business because of heavier traffic on the street and the fact that he sees the cars being washed often. “Well, there has been a lot of traffic in the area and on the street and I noticed they are washing cars, three or four at a time, on the roadway and at the home,” he said.

Strangely, when confronted about the situation by Local 10 News, Rabinovitz denied any knowledge of the business saying “What car rental business? I’m not doing it.” while actively cleaning the Jeep Grand Cherokee mentioned earlier. Florida, a state notoriously lax when it comes to infringing on the freedoms of its citizens, has recently passed a law that restricts local governments like that of Hollywood from regulating home-based businesses. We wonder how Mr. Flasher feels about that law.
