Reckless Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Driver Causes Three-Car Collision Near Sydney

Dashcam footage has captured the moment that the reckless driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII triggered a three-car collision in New South Wales, Australia.

The crash appears to have happened late in the evening of February 10, 2022 in the town of Yagoona, roughly 20 km (12 miles) south-west of Sydney. Initially, the rear-facing dashcam of a motorist shows the black Evo VII aggressively weave through traffic and narrowly avoids rear-ending a white cargo van that makes a left turn ahead of it.

The driver of the Mitsubishi then speeds through an intersection and passes the cammer. Unfortunately for him, there was a white Holden Astra parked on the side of the road just ahead and the driver didn’t have the space or reactions to brake in time. He can be seen jumping on the brakes and tries to thread between the parked Astra and a blue Ford Fiesta in the middle lane but there wasn’t enough space.

The Mitsubishi ends up clipping the rear of the Holden, briefly sending it up onto two wheels and into the side of the Fiesta. Both the Ford and the Mitsubishi grind to a halt soon after the crash. The driver of the Lancer Evo VII quickly opens his door and gets out but the video then cuts off, so it’s unclear what happened next.

It goes without saying that the driver of the Mitsubishi is solely to blame for the crash and we hope that local police were provided this dashcam footage to ensure that no one else is blamed for the incident. The cammer says that both the driver of the Evo and Fiesta were uninjured, although the Evo driver did seem “a bit out of it.”
