BMW will resume full production at factories in Germany and the UK next week after halting or slowing production in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The car manufacturer paused production at its factories in Munich and Dingolfing in Germany earlier in the month, as well as at its British plant in Oxford in response to supply bottlenecks.
Speaking with Auto News Europe, BMW production chief Milan Nedeljkovic confirmed that production will resume at the Munich and Dingolfing sites this week and return to normal levels on March 21. Nedeljkovic added that production of Mini vehicles at the Oxford site will remain interrupted this week but be ramped up next week.

While BMW’s production chief said the automaker has the flexibility to recover any lost production, he did not state how many units of production the company has lost. He did however say that the Munich factory was using its downtime to move forward various upgrades and technical changeovers which had been scheduled for this autumn.
In a statement, BMW said that it still expects to encounter additional supply restrictions triggered by the war which could lead to further alterations in production.
“We are still in intensive discussions with our suppliers,” the carmaker said. “Together with them, we are continuously assessing the situation and defining measures to secure production in the best possible way in order to be able to meet the continued high customer demand.”
