Amazon Music Added To Renault’s Latest OpenR Link Infotainment System

Renault has joined forces with Amazon Music to offer customers access to the streaming service as part of a free download.

Owners of new Renault models in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France equipped with the automaker’s latest OpenR Link infotainment system will be offered free access to Amazon Music Unlimited for six months. The Amazon Music app is also being offered as a free download through the My Renault mobile app.

Existing Prime members have access to 2 million songs at no additional cost to their membership but Amazon Music Unlimited expands upon this, providing access to more than 90 million songs. Customers also have free access to a number of top playlists and stations.

The collaboration with Amazon coincides with the launch of the Renault Megane E-Tech, complete with the French brand’s new OpenR Link infotainment system.

After the six-month offer ends, Renault owners will need to pay £9.90 ($12.10) per month to keep their Amazon Music Unlimited membership.

The Renault Megane E-Tech was unveiled at last year’s Munich Motor Show. It is based on the French automaker’s new CMF-EV platform that is shared with the Nissan Ariya and is available with a single electric motor offered in 129 hp and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) or 215 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) configurations.

Providing the electric motor with its juice is a lithium-ion NMC battery sourced from LG that is offered in 40 kWh and 60 kWh configurations. The smaller of these two battery packs offers a WLTP range of 186 miles (299 km) while the 60 kWh variant is good for 292 miles (470 km) of range on a charge.

The aforementioned OpenR Link system of the Megane E-Tech combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a vertically oriented 12-inch infotainment screen. The system uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs the Android Automotive Operating System with Google services, including Google Assistant and Google Maps.
