The 1989 Saleen SSC Is The Ultimate Ford Mustang Foxbody

The Foxbody Ford Mustang has always occupied an interesting place in the history of the pony car and arguably the ultimate version of the car has hit the market.

This particular Foxbody is a 1989 Saleen SSC that was transformed by Saleen Autosport to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Mustang. Like all others, it is finished in Oxford White and comes complete with Saleen graphics finished in yellow and black. It is being sold with manufacturer’s literature, a Saleen spec sheet, a car cover, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title.

The Bring a Trailer listing reveals that the eye-catching 16-inch five-spoke wheels are painted in Oxford White to match the exterior and are wrapped in 225/50 front and 255/50 rear BF Goodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 tires.

A number of interior alterations also distinguish the Saleen model from a standard Foxbody Mustang. Most notably, the adjustable bucket seats are clad in gray and white leather upholstery with contrasting yellow stitching and mesh headrests, accompanied by a color-matched dashboard, door panels, and carpet. The Ford is also rocking a 10-speaker sound system, a Pioneer stereo with a CD player, air conditioning, a Hurst quick-ratio shifter, four-point chassis support system, and power windows and door locks.

Adding to the car’s desirability is that it has Steve Saleen’s signature on the dashboard.

Power comes courtesy of a 5.0-liter V8 with polished aluminum valve covers, a high-performance air filter, and a Walker Dynomax low-restriction exhaust with high-flow catalytic converters. Saleen also equipped the SSC with electronically-adjustable Monroe Formula GP shocks and struts, a Monroe Formula GP axle damper, strut tower braces, and urethane sway bar pivot bushings.
