Ford and General Motors have already dipped their toes into the electric truck waters, and Ram will be the next to take the leap.
In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. revealed the company will unveil the Ram Revolution Concept on the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show. As a result, the pickup should debut on November 16th.
The concept is slated to preview the production truck, which will debut the following year. Ram has been teasing the model for months and it’s slated to ride on the new STLA Frame platform, which has been purposely designed for full-size trucks and SUVs. During a presentation last year, Stellantis revealed vehicles based on the platform will measure around 220.5 – 244.1 inches (5,600 – 6,200 mm) long and have 159-200+ kWh battery packs that provide up to 500 miles (800 km) of range.

The company also indicated those models will have 400V and 800V technology as well as electric motors with outputs ranging from 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) to 443 hp (330 kW / 449 PS). All-wheel drive variants are a given and this means they could have combined outputs of up to 885 hp (660 kW / 897 PS).
While Koval Jr. didn’t go into specifics, he told the paper that Ram will “push past” competitors. He went on to suggest the production model will be a proper truck as consumers are “not willing to sacrifice our most core attributes that make a truck a truck,” such as towing and hauling.
Besides talking about the electric pickup, the executive teased some “big” heavy duty truck news for the State Fair of Texas. That event kicks off on September 30th and comes just days after Ford unveils the redesigned F-Series Super Duty on September 27th.
Furthermore, the executive told the publication he’s “toying” with showing a midsize truck concept at a dealer convention in March. Little is known about it, but the executive said he was in South America earlier this year and saw “some small compact pickups that look ‘really, really good’ and could fit well in the U.S. market.” It remains unclear what truck Koval Jr. was talking about, but the company offers the Fiat Strada-based 700 south of the boarder.
