A Subaru BRZ STi Ain’t Happening But This Designer Rendered A Widebody One Anyway

This story includes speculative renderings of a fictional Subaru BRZ STi made by Avante Design that are neither related to nor endorsed by Subaru.

The Subaru BRZ and its Toyota GR86 sibling have received plenty of love from tuners, with numerous visual kits on offer. Still, there is no limit to a designer’s imagination, so independent 3D artist Avante Design created a new wide bodykit for a fictional BRZ STi.

This is not the first time we see a BRZ STi rendering, but Avante Design‘s take is more radical than X-Tomi Design’s proposal from 2020, looking more like a trackday monster than a production car.

At the front, the Japanese sportscar gets a redesigned front bumper featuring massive intakes, a prominent splitter, and integrated LEDs. Avante Design also added a vented bonnet and inserts on the headlights. The car is significantly wider than stock thanks to front and rear fender add-ons, merging with the rest of the bodywork with the help of the extended side sills.

A new set of gold-finished multi-spoke Enkei RS05RR alloy wheels are shod in Toyo tires with plenty of negative camber and wide tracks. Predictably, they are combined with a blue exterior shade, honoring Subaru’s racing heritage. At the back, the bumper got additional openings putting more emphasis on the diffuser and the dual exhaust pipes. Finally, a fixed rear wing is a must for any sporty Subaru with the STi badge.

Avante Design didn’t describe any mechanical upgrades but with this kind of bodykit everyone would expect a power bump. The stock naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter boxer engine produces 232 hp (173 kW / 235 PS) and 250 Nm (184.4 lb-ft) in Japan, so an STi should easily go beyond 300 hp. The BRZ was envisioned as a fun-to-drive RWD model so it should stay like this even in a potential flagship version.

Subaru seems to have no intention of producing a performance-focused variant of the BRZ and even if they chose to do so, it would certainly look more subtle than this fictional approach. Still, there is a market for extensive visual modifications among the owners of the affordable sporstcar. Thus, a bonkers bodykit like this could potentially have a future.
