Acura has teased the all-electric 2024 ZDX and ADX Type S that it is in the midst of developing.

Set to be introduced as the automaker’s first electric crossover, the ZDX is being developed with General Motors and is underpinned by its BEV3 platform and Ultium battery and drive systems. It will be the cousin to the Honda Prologue and while we’ve known about it for a few months, this is our first chance to see it in Type S guise.

Acura says that its “Type S models will continue to put the driver experience first” and exemplify the brand’s “unyielding commitment to delivering on the Precision Crafted Performance brand promise.”

The automaker has also published a handful of images of the ZDX Type S wrapped in camouflage. For the most part, the prototype looks virtually identical to the one our own spy photographers snapped back in October, albeit now the camouflage has hundreds of Type S logos.

Overall, the shape and size of the 2024 Acura ZDX is similar to the Honda Prologue. The front end is void of a traditional grille but does include a lower grille in the bumper. We can also see the outline of some aggressive air intakes on either side of this grille. The headlights of this prototype are also visible but are just temporary units and will not look like this on the production model.

Acura notes that the ZDX has been designed at the Acura Design Studio in Southern California and “will feature many of the styling themes that debuted on the Acura Precision EV Concept.” A key design detail borrowed from the concept is the floating D-pillar.

Powertrain details about the Acura ZDX are not yet known but both the battery and motors will be related to those from cars including the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq. It seems inevitable that Acura will offer an all-wheel drive powertrain. It is possible that the ZDX Type S will have the same powertrain as the Blazer EV SS, pumping out upwards of 557 hp.

Both the 2024 Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S will be unveiled in 2023.
