The Electra E5 is slated to be launched in China next year

Buick’s transformation is kicking into high gear as the company has unveiled the all-new Electra E5 in China.
Set to become the brand’s first Ultium-based electric vehicle, the Electra E5 features the company’s new “Pure” design philosophy which was previewed by the Electra-X concept. It’s designed to combine “electrified luxury with modern and athletic styling.”
Buick didn’t go into many specifics, but said the crossover has flying wing daytime running lights and aviation-inspired headlights with distinct welcome animations. They’re joined by the new tri-shield logo as well as an enclosed trapezoidal grille with a parametric pattern.
Moving further back, we can see flush-mounted door handles and minimalist cladding. Elsewhere, there are sizable wheels and a charging port on the front fender. We can also see a rakish windscreen that flows into a gently sloping roof.
Out back, there’s a slender LED light bar and a triple center brake light that is designed to recall Buick’s new logo. The crossover also sports an aerodynamically-optimized bumper and an angular rear window.

In terms of size, the Electra E5 measures 192.6 inches (4,892 mm) long, 75 inches (1,905 mm) wide, and 65.2 inches (1,655 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 116.3 inches (2,954 mm). To put those numbers into perspective, the model effectively slots in between the Envision and Enclave.
The Electra E5 will be launched in the first half of 2023 and it will offer enhanced Super Cruise as well as a next-generation Virtual Cockpit System. Additional information is limited, but China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has already revealed the crossover will weigh 5,666 lbs (2,570 kg) and have an electric powertrain that develops 241 hp (180 kW / 245 PS).
