Chevrolet launched the all-new Aveo in Mexico, as the first generation of the subcompact model that is fully developed and produced in China. The 2024 Chevrolet Aveo is a product of the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, and comes in both five-door hatchback and four-door sedan bodystyle flavors.
The new entry-level model in Chevrolet’s local range will rival the likes of the Nissan March / Versa and Kia Rio in the subcompact segment which is the largest in Mexico. The exterior design is rather conservative, characterized by simple lines without any stand-out features.
At the front, the halogen headlights have LED DRLs, merging with the chrome-infused grille, while the bumper has interconnected intakes and a chrome splitter. The hatchback features a rising windowline towards the back and is offered in a special exterior shade called “Hello Yellow”. The rear end sends strong Audi A3 vibes due to the shape of the taillights and the sporty rear bumper. The sedan has a more subtle bumper with faux dual tailpipes and an integrated ducktail spoiler on the trunk.
Inside, the Chevrolet Aveo has a simple yet clean design for the dashboard, which integrates an 8-inch central touchscreen and an analog instrument cluster. The infotainment is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the equipment also includes automatic air conditioning, a four-speaker audio system, a reverse camera, and rear parking sensors. As for safety, all trims will come standard with six airbags and disc brakes.
The new Aveo is exclusively available with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 98 hp (73 kW / 99 hp) and 105 lb-ft (143 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front axle through either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic with six simulated gears.

The 2024 Chevrolet Aveo will be produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling in China and imported to the Mexican market starting this year. Besides being offered in South American and African markets with the Chevrolet badge, the subcompact model is also expected to be offered in China, where it will wear the Wuling badge.
