Details and images of the facelifted 2024 Hongqi HS3 have just surfaced in China ahead of the SUV’s expected debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

Hongqi has been selling the HS3 as an EV in China since 2018 and these photos show that quite significant changes have been made to its design for the 2023 model year.

The front end has been overhauled and now looks much more dramatic. The new grille immediately catches the eye and has silver elements running vertically. A pair of lobster-claw shaped headlights are also featured. Connecting the headlights to the grille are thick silver accents.

The SUV’s sharp exterior appearance continues at the rear where lobster-claw shaped taillights are also visible and have a dark, smoked finish. A rear bumper with silver accents and silver tailpipes also stands out.

The HS3 is said to be 4,655 mm (183.2 inches) long, 1,900 mm (74.8 inches) wide, and 1,668 mm (65.6-inches) tall with a 2,770 mm (109 inch) wheelbase. It has a curb weight of 1,710 kg (3,769 lbs) and will be available with 19-inch and 20-inch wheels.

In terms of power, the petrol-driven HS3 will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. This engine is used in other Hongqi models, including the upcoming HS6, and is good for 241 hp.

The Hongqi line-up has grown considerably in recent years and at the start of this year, the H6 sedan was unveiled as perhaps the brand’s most important new model. This sleek sedan also rocks a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder but is good for 248 hp and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. It’s a particularly crucial model for the brand as it will be sold in various overseas markets.
