The Ralliart version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV could deliver as much as 286 hp

The Mitsubishi Vision Ralliart Concept from last year will apparently spawn a production model in 2024. Don’t get too excited, however, as it probably won’t revive the iconic Evolution nameplate.
A report out of Japan claims that Mitsubishi will morph the Vision Ralliart Concept into a production model based around the Outlander PHEV. It could hit the market with a more powerful engine as well as many of the same visual updates as enjoyed by the concept.
BestCarWeb suggests that like the standard Outlander PHEV, the Ralliart-branded variant will have a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that works alongside a pair of electric motors. The engine itself will apparently be able to produce 133 hp but that grunt from the electric motors will result in a combined 286 hp. That may not sound like a lot in the current world of high-performance SUVs but it is just as much as former range-topping variants of the Lancer Evolution. The model will likely have the same 20 kWh battery pack as the standard version.
Given that Mitsubishi has yet to release any images of the production-ready model, we’re left to speculate what it could look like. As the design of the concept wasn’t particularly outrageous, we think there’s a good chance the Japanese carmaker will bring many of the updated design details to the production line.
A key aspect of the Vision Ralliart Concept was an enclosed grille and a beefed-up bumper sporting a lower section filled with small holes. The concept was also showcased on a set of 22-inch wheels and benefited from flared wheel arches. Key changes made to the rear included a pronounced diffuser, an F1-inspired center braking light, and a large spoiler stretching out from the roof.

Mitsubishi also went to the trouble of equipping the concept with enlarged brake discs and six-piston calipers and it seems likely that a production model could also benefit from some chassis upgrades.
