A new-age Infiniti Q50 is in the works and is tipped to be sold exclusively as an EV from the middle of the decade. It will likely be sold as the Nissan Skyline in Japan.

Details about the vehicle are limited and vary depending on reports. What we do know is that Infiniti previewed the new model to North American dealers at the recent NADA Show alongside an electric SUV it also developing, dubbed the QX65.

Auto News asserts that the next-generation Infiniti Q50 will take design inspiration from the Qs Inspiration Concept that was revealed back in April 2019. This same report asserts that it will have an all-electric powertrain, offering all-wheel drive, and be manufactured at the company’s plant in Mississippi from 2025.

Curiously, a separate report from Japan’s BestCarWeb speculates that the next-generation Infiniti Q50 won’t be a BEV and that it will instead be a hybrid. It asserts the sedan will be equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine working in conjunction with front and rear electric motors. It could deliver around 201 hp combined and will apparently be around 4,800 mm (188.9 inches) long, 1,780 mm (70 inches) wide, 1,450 mm (57 inches) tall, and have a wheelbase of 2,800 mm (110 inches).

BestCarWeb has not cited a source for its information. It also claims that Nissan/Infiniti will produce a crossover variant of the new Skyline/Q50.

Regardless of what form the new Q50 takes, it won’t be the only new Infiniti model to hit the market in the coming years. Auto News states that a new two-row crossover dubbed the QX65 is being developed and that it will compete in the D-segment with a coupe-like crossover design. An unnamed dealer says it will serve as a rival to the Lexus RX350.
