For many, the Testarossa is one of the most wild cars of the ’80s, and the best-remembered Ferraris of recent times. And now, lucky bidders have the opportunity to own a collection of five examples that tell the story of one of the brand’s best-selling vehicles of all time.
All offered as part of the Black on Black Collection, these five cars span 10 years, from 1986 to 1996. All finished in Nero Fer with black in interiors, hence the name of the collection, the cars are a physical demonstration of how Ferrari design evolved from the ’80s to the ’90s.
Being sold through RM Sotheby’s, details about the cars’ histories remain untold for now, but from the photos it seems that they have been well-loved, with mileage figures ranging from 4,464 miles (7,184 km) for the best-kept 1987 Testarossa, to 77,264 miles (124,344 km) for the oldest of the bunch, the 1986 Testarossa.

1986 Ferrari Testarossa Monospecchio
Those two models feature desirable options, with the 1987 model featuring the “monodado” centerlock wheels, and the 1986 model featuring those same wheels, and the “monospecchio” single side mirror on the driver’s side.

The two youngest models are also interesting, as they aren’t technically Testarossas. Often considered part of the model family because of their similarities, the F512 TR and F512 M were produced after the Testarossa officially went out of production in 1991.

1989 Ferrari Testarossa
The F512 M, in particular, is of interest as the last example of the model family. Just 501 were built, with only 75 of those for the North American market. As you can see, it features rounded bumpers and non-popup headlights, and carbon fiber bucket seats were available as a no-cost option.
1992 Ferrari F512 TR
All, however, are powered by the Ferrari’s 4.9-liter flat-12. For the European market, between 1986 and 1989, the engine made 385 hp (287 kW/390 PS). In the F512 TR, it was tuned to make 422 hp (315 kW/428 PS), and in the final, F512 M trim, the power figure was raised all the way up to 434 hp (324 kW/441 PS).
For sale in Italy, the cars will be offered as part of RM Sotheby’s Villa Erba auction on May 20. The cars are being sold separately, without reserve, meaning that you could finish off your own collection with the example you love the most.
